In this paper, we propose a routing protocol for Opportunistic Networks (OppNets) that leverages Fuzzy Logic (FL) to optimize message delivery in highly dynamic environments. Our system utilizes key parameters such as buffer occupancy, angle to the destination, and the number of unique connections to make intelligent routing decisions, enhancing the adaptability and efficiency of the network. Through simulations, we compare the performance of our FL-based protocol with existing protocols considering delivery probability and overhead. Our proposed FL-system shows good results in delivery probability and reduces network overhead, especially in scenarios with high node density. This study highlights the potential of FL in enhancing the reliability and performance of routing protocols in OppNets, offering a robust solution for real-world applications where conventional communication infrastructures are unavailable or impractical.

One of the most challenging aspects of designing Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) is the optimal placement of mesh routers, which is classified as an NP-hard problem. To deal with this issue, we propose and implement a hybrid simulation system by combining Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Distributed Genetic Algorithm (DGA) called WMN-PSODGA. We utilize six Router Replacement Methods (RRMs) to optimize the placement of mesh routers in a small-scale WMN considering the Boulevard distribution of mesh clients. Simulation results by WMN-PSODGA show that all six RRMs achieved 100% connectivity, but they performed differently regarding the coverage of mesh clients. Among six RRMs, the Fast Convergence Rational Decrement of Vmax Method (FC-RDVM) demonstrated the best convergence performance.

The handover process introduces new and complex challenges in the 5G/Beyond 5G (B5G) wireless networks. Unlike previous generations, users in 5G/B5G networks do not only transit between different base stations or access technologies but also across various Network Slices (NSs). These slices are selected based on the user’s specific requirements and preferences. Therefore, the constraints on NS must be taken into account to ensure that handover decisions adequately satisfy user demands. This paper proposes a fuzzy-based system for handover management, incorporating four parameters: Slice Delay (SD), Slice Bandwidth (SB), Slice Stability (SS), and Slice Active Time (SAT), which is a new parameter. The simulation results indicate that these parameters have different impacts on the Handover Decision (HD). The increase of SD leads to the increase of the HD parameter, while the increase of SB, SS and SAT values leads to the decrease of HD value.

Recently, many kinds of robots are developed and they collaborate with various things to help humans. Over the past few decades, industrial robots have been used in factory operations. Also, these robots such as vacuum cleaner robot, security robot, therapy robot and wheelchair robot can support humans for many operations. Thus, using robots and related technologies are very meaningful to enrich our lives. In the context of welfare, in many countries in the world there are millions of people with disabilities who rely on wheelchairs. In this paper, we present an omnidirectional robot and introduce two applications: Moving Omnidirectional Access Point Robot (MOAP) and Wheelchair for tennis. These applications required a precise control of omnidirectional robot. Therefore, we measured the accuracy of moving omnidirectional robot using supersonic signals. The results shows that the omnidirectional robot was controlled correctly, because the error rate in x direction was within 1.00 [%]. However, when the robot moved in y direction, the error rate was 2.9 [%].

Recently, the human-to-human and human-to-things connections are becoming significantly more complicated and less trustworthy in decision-making for diverse scenarios. As a result, the trust computing is getting interest from many study domains. The Logical Trust is one of the trust concepts. In this paper, we consider three parameters (Belief (Be), Experience (Ep), and Rationality (Ra)) for the implementation of a fuzzy-based system to evaluate the LT. We evaluate by simulation the proposed system. According to the simulation findings, the LT parameter increases when Be, Ep, and Ra are increasing. All LT values are greater than 0.5 when Ep values range from 0.5 to 0.9, Be is 0.9 and for any value of Ra. In this case, the persons or things are trustworthy.

The transition to the 5th Generation (5G) mobile networks will rely on Ultra-Dense Heterogeneous Networks (UDHetNets). These networks introduce dense packed network configurations along with a diverse range of networks catering to user devices. The crucial challenge lies in establishing efficiently connections with an appropriate Radio Access Technology (RAT). This selection process involves the consideration of numerous parameters, which makes the problem NP-Hard. To address this challenge, in this research work, we design and implement a Fuzzy-based system and a testbed for RAT selection in 5G wireless networks. For the implementation, we consider three parameters: Coverage (CV), User Priority (UP), and Spectral Efficiency (SE). The output parameter is Radio Access Technology Decision Value (RDV).

This paper introduces a novel system for recognition error detection in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) using Fuzzy Logic (FL). The proposed system leverages a comprehensive set of input parameters, including Internal and External Distraction, Driver’s Inattention, and Inadequate Surveillance, to effectively evaluate and mitigate potential errors in vehicle recognition and response. In order to recognize the critical role of driver behavior and external factors in shaping road safety, we employ FL to model the intricate relationships and uncertainties inherent in such contexts. By incorporating linguistic variables and a rule-based inference mechanism, the system transforms the multidimensional input parameters into actionable insights regarding the likelihood of recognition errors. The distinctive contribution of this research lies in its holistic consideration of both driver-related and external variables, encompassing a wide spectrum of influences on recognition accuracy. Through simulatio validation, our proposed system demonstrates its efficacy in capturing subtle variations in driver attention and environmental conditions. Ultimately, the FL-based recognition error system holds significant promise in advancing the capabilities of VANETs, paving the way for more adaptive and responsive vehicular communication systems that prioritize safety in dynamic road environments.

The 5th Generation (5G) technology offers unprecedented data speeds, lower latency, and the ability to connect more devices simultaneously. However, there are new challenges and problems which come with these advancements. Selecting the most suitable Radio Access Technology (RAT) involves numerous factors, making this task computationally complex and is considered NP-hard. The RAT Load (RL) is a crucial component of RAT selection, handling the connection between user devices and the network core, facilitating communication and data transfer. RAT with less load ensures reliable service without degradation of the performance. In this paper, we proposed a Fuzzy-based RATs Selection System considering RL (FRSSRL) for 5G wireless networks. We considered four parameters: Coverage (CV), User Priority (UP), Spectral Efficiency (SE) and RL, which is a new input parameter for calculating RAT Decision Value (RDV). From the simulation results, we found that when CV, UP, and SE are increasing, the RDV parameter is increased, but when RL is increasing, the RDV parameter is decreased.

This research paper presents a fuzzy system tailored for application in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) to evaluate driver performance error. VANETs rely on real-time communication among vehicles and infrastructure to enhance road safety and traffic efficiency. The proposed system integrates four key input parameters: driver experience, skill level, mental and physical condition, and environmental stressors, with a focus on their relevance to VANET environments. Notably, the inclusion of environmental stressors, such as traffic congestion and adverse weather conditions, acknowledges the dynamic and unpredictable nature of VANET scenarios. Through fuzzy logic-based analysis, the system provides a nuanced evaluation of driver performance error, facilitating proactive measures to mitigate risks and improve overall traffic management in VANETs. This research contributes to the advancement of intelligent transportation systems by offering a comprehensive framework for assessing driver behavior and enhancing safety outcomes within VANET environments.

This technological diversity is key to fulfilling the promise of 5G in providing ubiquitous, high-quality wireless service across different environments and applications. In order to address this challenge, this paper presents a comparison study between a Fuzzy-based simulation system and a testbed for RAT selection in 5G networks. The system and testbed take into account three input parameters: Coverage (CV), User Priority (UP), and Spectral Efficiency (SE), which influence the Radio Access Technology Decision Value (RDV). The evaluation results show that experimental results were very close and have the same tendency with simulated results.

Recently, various communication technologies have been developed to meet the needs of numerous users. In particular, mobile communication technologies are advancing rapidly and Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are gaining significant attention from researchers due to their cost-efficient provision of broadband wireless connectivity. The primary challenge of WMNs is to enhance network connectivity and stability, while improving the user coverage. In our previous work, we introduced the Moving Omnidirectional Access Point (MOAP) robot, which can move omnidirectionally in real space to enhance the communication and stability for WMNs. In this paper, we investigate the optimal number of MOAP robots and their positions at Hakata train station in Fukuoka, Japan. The simulation results indicate that by using Elbow and Silhouette theories can be determinded the optimal number of MOAP robots for providing a good communication environment for clients.

Compared to 5-th Generation (5G) networks, the 6-th Generation (6G) networks are anticipated to accommodate a significantly higher number of applications and devices, along with a greater diversity of mobile data, architectures, and technologies. The 6G wireless network is designed to support a wide range of applications, including immersive augmented and virtual reality experiences, real-time holographic communications, and the Internet of Everything (IoE). A key feature of 6G is network slicing, which enables creation of multiple virtual networks on a single physical infrastructure. This capability requires operators to provide specific types of slices to meet diverse needs of different applications or multiple requirements of the same user. To ensure that resources are distributed effectively without compromising the performance of any slice, in this paper, we propose a Fuzzy-based System for Selection of Slice Service Type (F3ST), which considers three parameters: Bandwidth (Bt), Latency (La) and Connection Density (CD). From simulation results, we found that when Bt is increased, the Slice Service Type Decision (SSTD) value is increased, but when La and CD are increased, the SSTD is decreased.

Opportunistic Networks (OppNets) are characterized by intermittent connectivity and dynamic topology changes, posing significant challenges to efficient message routing. This paper presents a novel system for node selection and routing in OppNets leveraging Fuzzy Logic (FL). The proposed system uses buffer occupancy, angle to the destination, and the number of unique connections as input parameters. The output parameter is node selection for routing decision. The nodes in OppNet are represented by vehicles, which frequently generate messages within a defined area. We evaluate the proposed system through simulations. The simulation results show that the proposed system make a good and appropriate decision for node selection in OppNets.

As digital technologies pervade every facet of our lives, establishing trust for digital interactions has become paramount. This paper explores the dynamics of trust computing within the digital realm, leveraging Fuzzy Logic (FL) to address the inherent ambiguities and uncertainties. We introduce a Fuzzy-based System for Assessment of Relational Trust (FSART), which evaluates the relational trust by considering four input parameters: Influence (If), Importance (Ip), Similarity (Sm), and Reputation (Rp), which is a new parameter. The Relational Trust (RT) is the output parameter. We assessed the performance of the proposed system by computer simulations. The evaluation results show that the values of RT increase with increasing of Sm, Rp, Ip, and If, confirming their positive impact on RT. In the case when If = 0.5, Ip = 0.9, Rp = 0.9, and when If = 0.9, Ip = 0.9, and Rp is 0.5 and 0.9, for all values of Sm, all RT values exceed 0.5, indicating that entities are considered trustworthy.

This paper introduces an innovative system that uses Fuzzy Logic (FL) to detect recognition errors in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs). The system considers various input parameters to assess recognition errors in VANETs. In our previous work, we considered three parameters: Internal and External Distraction, Driver’s Inattention, and Inadequate Surveillance. In this paper, we consider Inattentive Driving as a new parameter. By employing FL, we model complex relationships and uncertainties in different situations. This approach transforms multifaceted input data into actionable insights regarding recognition error likelihood. We consider both driver-related and external factors, which affect the recognition accuracy. The simulation results show that the proposed system effectively captures different driver attention situations and environmental conditions. The proposed system can enhance VANET performance by enabling more adaptive and responsive vehicular communication in dynamic road environments.

Trust is fundamental for the functioning of social networks because it impacts the user interactions, information reliability and overall network cohesion. This paper introduces a Fuzzy-based System for the Evaluation of User Trust (FSEUT) in social networks, which assesses trust using three key parameters: Attitude (At), Behavior (Bh), and Experience (Ep). We evaluated the system through computer simulations, and the results show a positive correlation between the input parameters and User Trust (UT). The increase of At, Bh, and Ep leads to corresponding increase in UT, demonstrating the system effectiveness for trust evaluation.

The Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are a very good innovative technolog. They can provide enhanced scalability, flexibility, and robustness, making them ideal for a wide range of applications. However, WMNs have several challenges such as efficient routing, maintaining network security, managing scalability, and mitigating interference. Addressing these challenges is crucial for improving the performance and reliability of WMNs in practical deployments. The deployment of mesh routers at appropriate locations is important to deal with these issues. However, finding the best locations of mesh routers in WMNs is difficult and is classified as NP-hard problem. There are some studies that considers meta-heuristic algorithms for optimization of mesh routers in WMNs. Some of them use simple intelligent algorithms. In this paper, we propose and implement a hybrid simulation system based on Particle Swarm Oprimization (PSO) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) using Linearly Decreasing Inertia Weight Method (LDIWM), Random Inertia Weight Method (RIWM) and Fast Convergence Rational Decrement of Vmax Method (FC-RDVM). We consider Boulevard distribution of mesh clients and a small scale WMN. The simulation results show that for Boulevard distribution, LDIWMs, RIWMs, and FC-RDVMs provide 100% connectivity. However, they have different performance for NCMC parameter. The convergence of NCMC for FC-RDVM is better than LDIWM and RIWM and is 100%. Thus, the performance of FC-RDVM is better compared with other two methods.

The human-to-human and human-to-devices communications are becoming increasingly intricate and unpredictable, which complicate the decision-making in different scenarios. So, many researcher are developing methods for assessing the trustworthiness of these kinds of communications. The Logical Trust (LT) is one crucial concept in trust computing that refer to the level of trust or confidence that an individual or system has in order to protect data, systems, or communications. In this paper, we introduce a Fuzzy-based system for evaluating LT, considering four parameters: Belief (Be), Experience (Ep), Rationality (Ra) and Reliability (Re), which is a new parameter. We evaluate the proposed system by computer simulations. We investigate the effect of each input parameter on the performance of the implemented system. The simulation results show the LT parameter increases when Be, Ep, Ra and Re are increasing. When Be and Ep values are 0.9 for all Ra and Re values, the LT values are more than 0.5, indicating that the people or devices are trustworthy.

Globally, there are many people with disabilities. Recently, a variety of facilities and equipment have been innovated, catering not only the disabled individuals but also the aging population. Among these, the wheelchair is one of the most commonly utilized tools in diverse scenarios for disabled and elderly individuals. In this paper, we deal with the safety assurance of omniditectional wheelchair robot for playing badminton. We conducted experiments to control multiple omnidirectional robots and prevent collisions. We conducted experiments by placing reference points, where the robot should pass through with an error margin of a few centimeters at 1 [m] intervals. Additionally, we investigated the trajectory when the reference points were set at 50 [cm] intervals and when there are no reference points. The evaluation results in case when we did not use intervals are better than other results (when using point intervals of 0.5 [m] and 1 [m]).
