    This paper describes an attempt to automatically grade a Japanese C language programming exercise report by summarizing its processing explanation in three lines. We fine-tuned the natural language processing model Text-To-Text Transfer Transformer (T5) to generate a model for a three-line summary task that outputs a summary sentence from the processing explanation of the programming exercise reports. The proposed automatic grading process, grades to the description, are based on the cosine similarity between the summary sentence output by the three-line summary task and the ground truth three-line summary. The performance evaluation uses two learning models: a livedoor model that fine-tunes live-door news articles and a C-lang model that fine-tunes C language programming exercise reports. As a result of the experiment, the livedoor model, fine-tuned using training data from news articles with many common expressions in Japanese sentences, was sufficient for the three-line summary description.

    Abstract

    A social issue that leads to the safety and security of people is the network that monitors the safety of people living alone in remote areas. Various research and developments of indoor human activity recognition using IoT sensor nodes have been conducted in recent years. In this research, we focus on turning on and off indoor lighting and propose an activity recognition system at home using an illuminance sensor. An IoT sensor node with a built‐in illuminance sensor is attached to the wall near the indoor lighting equipment. The living activities of people in the room are estimated from changes in the illuminance. We assume a significant change in the illuminance of the indoor lighting is observed at least once a day at the sampling interval of the IoT sensor node. In that case, it is possible to estimate the operation of the indoor lighting due to daily activities and to confirm the safety of people living alone in remote areas. The activity recognition system was evaluated for a total of 380 days, excluding the missing period. The estimation of indoor lighting manipulation by daily activities was accurate for 376 days. Precision, Recall, and F‐measure score values, which are evaluation indices for activity estimation, were 94.9%, 98.2%, and 96.5%, respectively.

    Abstract

    Recent developments in wind turbine design research account for the effects of velocity fluctuation and the characteristic turbulence of the installation location site to improve performance. For the design, a low-cost natural wind generator and a laboratory-based performance evaluation of the wind turbine are useful. This paper describes a new actively controlled multi-fan wind tunnel that generates natural wind at a reduced cost. The driving section of its wind tunnel has 100 PC cooling fans that are controlled by an original embedded system. The fluctuating velocity wind is successfully generated with a mean velocity 7m/s, turbulent intensity 2% and turbulent integral scale 5 m, 10 m, 20 m, based on Karman’s power spectrum density function. In particular, the wind satisfies the Kolmogorov’s −5/3 multiplication rule of inertial subrange with the frequency range 0.01∼2.0 Hz. Furthermore, the performance of a wind turbine in steady and natural winds can be investigated. From the results, it is made clear that integral scale has a large effect on the wind turbine performance. The maximum power coefficient in natural wind of the integral scale 5 m and 10m is 124% larger than one of steady wind with the same mean velocity 7 m/s.

    In this paper, we discuss hands-on reflections including KPT-Why-Solution Retrospectives (KWS Retrospectives) for the purpose of growing students' problem identification skills and problem solving skills in student experiment Project Based Learning (PBL). The KWS Retrospectives is a framework for problem recurrence prevention and reflection that combines and builds on conventional version of Keep-Problem-Try (KPT) and Ask-Why. This activity of KPT has the following four educational goals. (1) In reflections after implementing PBL, we have the students form an understanding of the current situation, including Keep (good points), Problem, and Try (challenges) through PBL. (2) In forming an understanding of the current situation, we have the students quantize those items in terms of the metrics of urgency, difficulty, effective, and impact, and have them visualize their weigh and priority. (3) In addition, we have the students experience the process of sharing problems and reaching consensus through a group discussion, and have the students confirm the suitability of the problem solving process for themselves. (4) After that, we have the students experience the problem solving process separately in another lecture or PBL, leading to continuous growth in problem solving skills. As a result of the hands-on reflections, the students learned (1) through (3). The challenge for the future is (4) growing problem solving skills through continuous implementation.

    Wearable robots recently become a hopeful technology for support and assist of human activity in many fields. A major issue discussed in this research field to this date is limb mobility of a person wearing a wearable robot. It is considered that the mobility receives influence from factors such as alignment of a wearable robot mechanism on human limbs, control of the robot, mechanical design of the mechanism etc. This paper considers two mechanical designs of the mechanism for motion support of a human elbow joint, and compare those mobility based on relative motion between a human arm and the mechanism, under an assumption that the mechanism does not receive special care for its alignment on a human arm. The comparison of the mobility obtained from measured data of persons wearing the mechanism does not statistically exhibit significant difference between the mechanical designs, however, it also brings up some issues for future study.

    This paper discusses engineering ethics education as a way to enhance problem solving skills through group discussions. During group discussions, students are given a role to play in imaginary scenarios. The students hold discussions to work out the reasons for what went wrong in the imaginary scenarios. Once the causes are identified, the students design multiple solution strategies and devise short-term and long-term measures to be implemented. In order to encourage students to carry out discussions and devise solution strategies, we used two frameworks: Seven-step guide and 4M analysis. We have analyzed the correlation between the test scores in engineering ethics and the pre- and post-self-evaluation results, which were measured by the fundamental competencies for working persons. As a result, we conclude that the education is able to demonstrate an educational effect in terms of the development of communication and problem solving skills, it still leaves some issues to be resolved with regard to the students' ability to act and get things done.

    The Advanced Computer Systems Engineering Design Project is a main subject for education of engineering design at the department of Information and Systems Engineering, Fukuoka Institute of Technology. Education for engineering design is an important requirement for education programs accredited by the Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (JABEE). On the other hand, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) defines and propounds the "Fundamental Competencies for Working Persons", and the included 12 competency factors are also considered to be indices suitable for evaluating educational effects. This paper reports the evaluation of the subject obtained by a questionnaire survey conducted for the students who took the subject at 2013. Analysis of the questionnaire data shows that the students considered that personal competencies such as execution skill, ability to detect issues, planning skill etc. could be improved through activities in the subject, however, the analysis also points out a future issue that self-evaluation of the students for acquisition of collaboration competencies, such abilities to deliver messages, to listen closely and carefully, flexibility etc., was less than that for acquisition of personal competencies.

    In this paper, we propose a fine grain Cooled Logic architecture for low-power oriented processors. Cooled Logic detects, in novel hardware method with dual-rail logic, functional blocks to be active, and stops clocks to each of the functional blocks in order to make it inactive at certain periods. To confirm the effectiveness of our approach, we design a 4-bit and a 16-bit event-driven array multipliers, and analyze their power consumption by the HSPICE simulator. As a result, it is shown that Cooled Logic has a tendency to reduce power consumptions in both the functional blocks and the clock drivers of the multipliers.

    This paper deals with a new low-power clocking scheme for dynamic logic circuits to reduce power dissipation. Although conventional clocking schemes for dynamic logic circuits are mainly used for high-speed applications like domino circuits, their peak-current are very large due to the concentration of precharging and discharging in a short period. It is hard for these schemes to accomplish both reductions of power dissipation and high performance at the same time. In the field of power engineering, levering power means decreasing peak-to-peak of power keeping its amount. So, we propose a sophisticated clocking scheme leveling power dissipation of processing elements that mainly reduces power dissipation of crock drivers. Our proposed clocking scheme uses an over-lapped clock with a fine-grain power control, and peak-current becomes lower and power dissipation in short period is levered without penalty of speed performance. Our proposed scheme is applied to a 4-bit array multiplier, and reductions of power dissipation of both the multiplier and clock driver are measured by the HSPICE simulator based on 0.5 mum CMOS technology. It is shown that power dissipation of clock drivers, 4-bit array multiplier, and the total are reduced by about 13.2 percent, 2.6 percent and 7.0 percent, respectively. As a result, our clocking scheme is effective in reduction of power dissipations of clock drivers.

    本研究では負電源生成回路の自動解析環境を構築する。負電源生成回路は交流の正電源を入力し、コンデンサ、抵抗を介して負電源を出力する回路である。負電源の品質は入力電圧の周波数、コンデンサ、抵抗の各パラメータに依存するため、各パラメータの感度解析を行い、決定しなければならない。まずUbuntu上にgEDAとNG-SPICEの2大パッケージを導入し、回路シミュレーション環境を構築する。次に自動解析環境はPerl言語で記述する。負電源生成回路の周波数、コンデンサ、抵抗の各パラメータが逐次変更可能である。その後NG-SPICEのシミュレーション値を元に感度解析を自動で行う。

    近年LSIの高速化と低電圧化に伴い、LSIの出力ノイズに由来する電圧変動やジッタ等が問題となっている。本発表ではLSIの出力ノイズの生成回路と測定回路からなる出力ノイズ測定基板を試作する。出力ノイズは複数の出力I/Oを同時に駆動して発生させる。出力ノイズは測定回路に設けたマイクロストリップラインの終端で測定する。基板の電源部は電源安定化回路を用いて電圧変動を抑え、基準クロックは低ジッタの水晶発振器を実装し出力ノイズ以外の各種ノイズを抑える。測定したい出力ノイズのみを測定できるようにする。本発表では試作した基板で測定したLSIの出力ノイズを報告する。

    Ask why is a problem-solving method for solving while repeating why until it gets to the real cause. The method is important be considered comprehensively all factors. Also If you do not follow deeply factors, cannot be found the root cause. The reason is because there is no means to view the coverage of the factors. In this report, we propose a method of visualization of the completeness of the factors using quantitative text analysis.

    本発表では学生実験で組込み分野の開発プロセスを疑似体験できる「バーチャルインターンシップ研修会社」に関する教育プログラムについて、アンケート結果に基づく職種別の評価について考察を行う。バーチャルインターンシップ研修会社の導入シナリオは、学生がベンチャー企業に入社し、プロジェクトの限られた開発期間で消費者が欲しがるクールな製品を開発する。プロジェクトの一員となり、リーダー職、技術職、営業職、デザイナー職、テクニカルライター職などから一職種を担当する。2012年度の実施回で本教育プログラムについてアンケートを実施し、職種別に集計した教育効果について考察する。

    近年、LEDを利用する可視光通信が研究されている。可視光通信とは可視光を人間の目には見えない速度で点灯させて通信する技術である。しかし、太陽光や他の照明光などの周辺光が受信時のノイズとなり、データ通信が正常にできないことがある。特に周辺光の強さや通信速度によって通信のエラーレートが変動するため、エラーレートを自動評価するシステムが必要である。本発表では通信速度を設定した範囲で自動設定し、エラーレートの評価を行うシステムを構築する。周辺光ノイズ除去回路を組み込んだ既存の可視光通信機器を用いて、エラーレートの評価を行う。

    可視光通信は人間の目に見える光「可視光」を使う通信技術である.赤外線や電波を用いた通信と異なり,既存の照明源などに通信機能を付加することが可能である.通信性能と照明源のちらつきの低減を両立させる通信方式の1つに周波数偏移変調(FSK)がある.本発表ではFSKのソフトモデムを試作し,可視光通信の性能を評価する.PSoCマイコンを用いてFSKのソフトモデム部,テストデータ生成部,通信性能評価部の3つを実装する.実験は外付けの照明用LEDを使用し,照明源としてちらつきの低減の確認と通信性能の評価を行う.

    可視光通信は人間の目に見える光「可視光」を使う通信技術である.赤外線や電波を用いた通信と比較して,既存の照明機器などに通信機能を付加可能である.通信性能と照明のちらつきを両立させる符号の1つに「マンチェスター符号」がある.照明源から50%のDutyで発光し,照明のちらつきを防止しながら伝送レベルの高低の変化を0と1の符号で表し送信する.さらに高速通信を行うためには照明源から送信された可視光から周辺光を除去する必要がある.本研究では周辺光のノイズを除去可能な可視光通信機器を設計し,周辺光のノイズ除去を用いた可視光通信の性能評価を行う.
